Children with Complex Health Needs Waiver (CwCHN)

Ages Birth through 18

Allows children (under 19) with complex health needs and life-threatening illnesses to receive additional benefits beyond standard Medicaid services so they can stay in their homes and communities. This waiver merges two previous programs: CHCBS and CLLI.

Qualifying for CwCHN Medicaid Waiver services

  • Must be under 19 years of age
  • Children must require care that would typically be provided in either a skilled nursing facility and/or a hospital. The child may or may not have a life-limiting illness, as certified by a physician
  • Meet the Federal Social Security Administration disability definition and/or is a Supplemental Security Income recipient
