Children’s Home and Community-Based Services Waiver (CHCBS)

Ages Birth through 17

Allows children (under 18) with significant medical needs and at risk for institutional care to be eligible for Health First Colorado benefits based on their medical needs and not family income.

  • Must be 17 years old or younger
  • At risk of nursing facility or hospital placement due or needing long-term support services at a level comparable to that provided in a nursing facility or hospital setting
  • Have a disability as defined by the Social Security Administration (SSA)
  • Meet financial determination requirements as outlined in the Colorado Code of Regulations and as determined by your local Department of Human Services (DHS)
